About

Eliza Woitinnek is a dancer and choreographer from Chicago, Illinois. She is enamored with all things beautiful, physical, and avant-garde. With an open mind and a witty humor, she's down to try anything thrice.

Eliza began her pre-professional training dancing competitively with The Academy of Dance Arts in Downers Grove, Illinois, under the artistic direction of Sherry Moray and Ricky Ruiz. She continued her dance education with Bulter Ballet, while pursuing a bachelors of science degree from Butler University in dance arts administration.

Eliza performed several full-length ballets with Butler Ballet such as the Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and Giselle, and has created soloist and principal roles in contemporary works. Alongside performance, Eliza explored her passion for choreography— serving as the director of the Student Choreography Showcase, and of her own dance film “racecar”, which she presented at Indiana’s Undergraduate Research Conference.

Upon graduation, Eliza joined Visceral Dance Chicago for two seasons as an apprentice, performing works by artistic director Nick Pupillo and workshopping with guest choreographers Danielle Agami and Kevin O’Day. She also set two works, (Octavia,  Customer Service) on company members and for Visceral's choreographic showcase, WITHIN.

Eliza has also performed at Dance For Life Chicago at the Auditorium Theatre, Chicago SummerDANCE in Millennium Park, the RAW Artist Showcase, and in two independent dance films. She was also featured in multi-media production company Freckled Sky's residency at West Virginia Busch Gardens Summer LIVE!.

Eliza is now a freelance dancer and performer based in New York City. She loves the city's vibrancy and is enjoying working with new choreographers in new venues. She even made her directorial debut with Decibel and the Boom's official music video, "Running in Circles."

When Eliza is not dancing or planning her next project, you can find her serenading the crowd every weekend as a karaoke host.
